My name is Lonnie St John. The start of 2012 I weighed just shy of 300 pounds. Over the next year I lost almost 100 pounds of that weight. I did it through better nutrition and exercise. My preferred form of exercise is running. Running has become such an important part of my life that any plans I make must take into account my running schedule.
I have since eclipsed the 100 pound weight loss goal for myself and am within a handful of pounds of being at my “ideal weight”. I regrettably did not document my journey that well in 2012. I’m looking to change that in 2013.
My major goal for this year is running the Portland Marathon on October 6, 2013. My plan is to document that training journey through weekly blog updates, maybe more if something important happens or pops into my mind that I feel I need to share. Although my marathon training does not officially start until June, I have several other races before then, most notably the Rock n’ Roll Portland Half Marathon on May 19, 2013.
